UI Simplification is a Needed Challenge
User ‘BryanLewis’ from the The Verge Forums posed a thought about UI simplification being more confusing. I’ve been a proponent of having symbols replace text in many UI elements for the sake of advancing our experiences.
He states the following:
Simple interfaces are sought after. Interfaces that even a child can understand.
This makes me go back to what I wrote earlier about focusing on symbols with a 5-year-old being about to recognize brands without any laymen terms text.
We need to push forward. Even though UI simplification is a constant challenge, this doesn’t mean we should work backwards.
